The ambitious project based on the novel of the same name by Almudena Grandes premiered on 19 April on RTVE. Joan Noguera, the director of the series, has counted on an exceptional cast: Tamar Novas, Javier Rey, Verónica Echegui, Eva Llorach and many more.

The production, a mixture of historical drama and spy thriller, takes us through a series of time jumps to Civil War and post-war Spain. After Franco’s victory, Dr. Guillermo García Medina is still living in Madrid under a false identity. The documentation that saved him from the wall was a gift from his best friend, a Republican diplomat whose life he saved in 1937. Dr. García believes he will never see him again, but in September 1946, Manuel returns from exile with a secret and dangerous mission: he intends to infiltrate an escape network of fugitive war criminals run from Madrid by a German woman.
