Venice opens its film festival

With 23 films in the competition, which not only partly forgets Spain but also most of the rest of the world, the festival celebrates its eightieth edition and 91 years of life from 30 August to 9 September.

Italy presents seven candidates for the Golden Lion, slightly less than a third of the programme, a massive presence to which only the United States and France are timidly added with six and four titles respectively.

Venice is above all a festival focused on auteur cinema, but it does not neglect the laws of spectacle, especially with the catwalk of actors and actresses who walk the 200 metres that separate the Excelsior Hotel from the Palazzo del Festival.
