From May 7 to September 7, 2025, the Petit Palais in Paris is hosting “Worth, the birth of haute couture,” a never-before-seen exhibition dedicated to the visionary designer who revolutionized the art of fashion. In collaboration with the Palais Galliera, this retrospective exhibition is the first of its kind in Paris and pays tribute to Charles Frederick Worth (1825-1895), the creator who transformed dressing into an expression of art and luxury.

Worth, of British origin, founded his fashion house at 7 rue de la Paix in 1858. There he introduced a new way of conceiving women’s clothing, combining elegance, structure and theatricality. His influence marked generations of designers and positioned Paris as the undisputed capital of fashion.
From Peris Costumes we celebrate this historical look at the origins of haute couture, which has inspired generations of creators and designers. A must for lovers of fashion, art and costume history.
