Jantziaren Zentroa opens its doors to the darkness, mystery and visual power of GAUA (2025), the new film by director Paul Urkijo, through the exhibition ‘A film wardrobe: GAUA’ designed by costume designer Nerea Torrijos.
Upon entering Kapitain-etxea, visitors are immersed in the cinematic universe of GAUA. The tour begins on the left side of the exhibition, which takes us to the beginning of the story: the moment when Kattalin, the protagonist, flees her home and enters the forest at night, where she will meet three women who will mark her destiny.
Costume designer Nerea Torrijos (Bilbao, 1985) has been developing her career in cinema for over a decade. Since 2015, she has been working closely with Paul Urkijo, designing the costumes for all his films: Errementari (2017), Irati (2023) and now GAUA (2025).
The exhibition offers a close-up look at the costumes from GAUA, pieces that are barely visible on screen for a few seconds and in low light conditions, but which here reveal all their richness in materials, textures and details. In addition, the exhibition highlights the silent and essential work of tailors, dressmakers, designers, make-up artists and hairdressers who, from the shadows, build the historical and visual credibility of cinema. We are delighted and proud to have provided the costumes for this film through stock rental and tailoring.
‘A film wardrobe: GAUA, by Nerea Torrijos’ can be visited free of charge until 22 March.
