The San Sebastián International Film Festival warmly welcomed the world premiere of Maspalomas, a superb, raw, and deeply moving story.
The film follows Vicente, a 76-year-old man who, after breaking up with his partner, enjoys the life he loves in Maspalomas: sunbathing, partying, and seeking pleasure. An unexpected accident forces him back to San Sebastián, where he must reconnect with the daughter he abandoned years ago. Living in a nursing home, Vicente is pushed back into the closet, compelled to hide a part of himself he thought was resolved.
Directed by Jose Mari Goenaga and Aitor Arregi, with costume design by Saioa Lara, the film received an excellent reception at the festival and will be released in Spanish cinemas on September 26, 2025
