The latest film by Spanish director Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, Rich Flu, will hit theatres on 24 January 2025, distributed by Filmax, following its screening in the Official Competition Section of the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival. This work, produced by Nostromo Pictures, Fabula Films, Basque Films and Mamma Team, marks Gaztelu-Urrutia’s return to the prestigious festival, where he triumphed four years ago with El Hoyo.
The costume design for Rich Flu is by Azagiñe Urigoitia, a renowned costume professional whose work in El Hoyo (The Platform), also directed by Gaztelu-Urrutia, has been widely distributed on Netflix.
The film features an international cast led by Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Ahsoka), Timothy Spall (Spencer) and Lorraine Bracco (The Sopranos), and is presented as the acclaimed director’s first English-language feature film.
Rich Flu is a modern-day dark fable. A social satire, at once tragic and funny, it proposes an unthinkable reality: parting with all our possessions, bank accounts and the relinquishment of all our worldly goods to flee the strangest of epidemics.
