At Peris Costumes we are proud to be part of the GAUA project, the new feature film by the director Paul Urkijo, with a careful costume design by the costume designer Nerea Torrijos.
The film will have its world premiere at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, to be held from October 9 to 19, one of the most prestigious events in the genre. After the success of Irati, the highest-grossing film in Basque in history, Urkijo returns with a proposal that, once again, connects Basque folklore with fantasy.
Set in the 17th century, at the height of the witch-hunting era, GAUA tells the story of Kattalin, a woman who runs away from her husband and enters a forest populated by disturbing figures, typical of Basque mythology. The film was shot in natural locations in the Basque Country and Navarre, such as Legutio, the Golden Sanctuary in Zuia, Elorrio or the magical forest of Artikutza.
The film is scheduled for release in Spanish theaters on November 14, distributed by Filmax.
Congratulations to Nerea Torrijos for this extraordinary work and thanks to all the GAUA team for trusting Peris Costumes to bring this story to life.
