Gladiator 2 is being shot in Malta and Morocco. The Canary Islands missed a great opportunity to be the location for a major Ridley Scott production, as was the case with Gods and Kings on Fuerteventura.

Gladiator 2 will feature two notable returnees as Connie Nielsen, who played Lucilla in the first film, and Djimon Hounsou, who played Juba the imposing slave and fighter, will also be in the sequel set 25 years after the original story.
