Netflix has begun production of Aquel, a fictional series based on the life of legendary singer Raphael. The fiction, which will consist of eight episodes, is a production of DLO Producciones (Banijay Iberia) in association with Caracol Televisión, and will premiere soon in Spain and Latin America through the platform.
Actors Javier Morgade (Disco, Ibiza, Locomía, Alma) and Carlos Santos (1992, El hombre de las mil caras) will give life to Raphael in the different stages of his career. Filming began last June and promises to offer an emotional and intimate journey through the life of one of the most iconic artists of Spanish music.
Costume designer Anna Pons takes on the challenge of reflecting six decades of musical, aesthetic and cultural history with authenticity and sensitivity.
“I am deeply excited about this project, the fruit of more than three years of work. They have been intense months of script writing, cast selection, production design and close collaboration with the directors, along with three exceptional allies: Caracol, DLO and Netflix,” said Raphael himself. This biopic not only tells my story; it also reflects a shared history: more than six decades of career marked by unforgettable moments – some well-known, others more intimate; some luminous, others harsher.”
