Anne Hathaway becomes a pop star inspired by Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift in ‘Mother Mary’

Anne Hathaway surprises in her new film challenge with Mother Mary, where she plays a pop star far removed from her previous roles. To build this character, the actress has been inspired by two indisputable references in the music world: Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift. A hybrid of both that, in her own words, has been an emotional and artistic challenge.

“I had to submit to being a beginner. The humility of that, showing up every day knowing you’re going to do it wrong. And it must be right. You’re not ‘bad,’ you’re just a beginner,” Hathaway has confessed, reflecting the level of commitment and delivery required by the character.

The costumes, a key part in the creation of this iconic musical figure, were created by renowned costume designer Bina Daigeler, who worked closely with Hathaway to shape a powerful, modern image full of pop references. The result promises to be an aesthetic fusion of two very influential musical worlds, where the costumes play an essential role in the narrative.

Although filming finished last July 20, and the premiere is scheduled for this year, the official date has not yet been confirmed. In the meantime, the first images released anticipate a visually stunning and stylish production.

In Mother Mary, Anne Hathaway not only sings and acts, but also immerses herself in a transformation process that will undoubtedly be accompanied by memorable costume work.
