Costume designer Andrea Flesch creates the costumes for Orphan, set in 1957 Budapest

Renowned costume designer Andrea Flesch has created the costumes for Orphan, the new film by director László Nemes. Set in the spring of 1957, during the re-establishment of communist power in Hungary following the failed Revolution, the film follows a young Jewish boy whose hopes are shattered when a stranger arrives to take his family back.

The film was shot over 53 days, primarily in Budapest and Hatvan. The script is co-written by László Nemes and Clara Royer. Produced by Ildikó Kemény and Ferenc Szále for Pioneer Pictures, the film also features cinematography by Mátyás Erdély, production design by Márton Ágh, and costume design by Andrea Flesch.

The film will be distributed domestically by Mozinet and internationally by MUBI.
