Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein selected for Venice Film Festival 2025

The prestigious Venice International Film Festival, which since 1932 has awarded the best of world cinema with its iconic Golden Lion, has announced its official selection for the 82nd edition. Among the most anticipated titles is Frankenstein, the ambitious new adaptation directed by acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro.

The film, starring Jacob Elordi, Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth and Christoph Waltz, reinterprets Mary Shelley’s immortal novel, exploring the complex relationship between scientist Victor Frankenstein and his famous creature.

The costumes, key to recreating the gothic atmosphere and detailed aesthetic characteristic of Del Toro’s universe, are designed by renowned costume designer Kate Hawley, who has collaborated with the director on productions such as Crimson Peak and Pacific Rim. We are proud to be part of this project and to have provided costumes for this great challenge.

In addition, this edition of the festival will pay a special tribute to legendary director Werner Herzog, in recognition of his contribution to contemporary cinema.

Del Toro’s presence in Venice confirms expectations that “Frankenstein” will be one of the great premieres of the year, and his careful costume design promises to be one of the visual jewels of the film.
