Amazon Prime Video’s new series “The Farads”, premiering on 12 December, takes a look at the Cold War from 1980s Malaga. The action-packed series follows a family that is normal in many ways, despite making a lavish living as arms dealers.
Part of Prime Video’s growing and diverse offering, “Los Farad” stars Miguel Herrán, who plays Río in “La Casa de Papel” and Cristián in “Élite”, and up-and-comer Sara Abaitúa, who gave an impressive performance in Netflix’s romantic comedy “Loco por ella”.

In the series, Herrán plays Oskar, raised in an orphanage and whose only living relative is Uncle Miguel (Fernando Tejero), who lives in a humble working-class neighbourhood in Madrid and becomes the voice of Oskar’s conscience. An aerobics teacher, Oskar dreams of owning his own gym. A chance meeting with Sara, daughter of Leo Farad (Pedro Casablanc), a member of Marbella’s elite, offers him not only that possibility, but an answer to Oskar’s deepest goal: a real family.
This family, however, are arms dealers, tipping the balance in a Cold War that stretches from Angola to Yemen, Iraq, Algeria and even Monaco.
