The Costumes in “Like Water for Chocolate”  Highlight the feminine essence of Las Palomas

The new adaptation of  “Like Water for Chocolate”, based on the novel by Laura Esquivel, features costumes that go beyond mere aesthetics to become a profound reflection of its characters.

Designed by costume designer Annai Ramos, the costumes reveal the complexity, strength, and sensitivity of the women who inhabit the Las Palomas estate. Each garment is crafted with detail and symbolism, showcasing the emotional evolution of its protagonists in a context marked by tradition, love, and conflict.

Set during the Mexican Revolution in Coahuila, the story follows Elena de la Garza (Irene Azuela) and her daughters: Rosaura and Gertrudis (Ana Valeria Becerril), and Tita (Azul Guaita), who finds emotional refuge in the kitchen, guided by Nacha (Ángeles Cruz). At the same time, the love between Tita and Pedro Múzquiz (Andrés Baida) runs through the narrative with intensity. We are happy to be part of this project.

“The costumes speak for themselves: it took five women, a spoonful of love, and a pinch of drama,” notes the creative team, emphasizing their pride in being part of a project that portrays the nuances of Mexican women.
