« THE BOOKSHOP » WINS THE FENIX AWARD FOR BEST COSTUME DESIGN WITH PIECES FROM PERIS

The Iberoamerican Fénix Film Awards recognize and celebrate the film production from Latin American, Spain and Portugal. The event took place in Mexico City last November 7th.

This annual awarding, organized by Cinema 23, counted on the participation of 20 fiction movies and 10 documentaries. “The Bookshop”, directed by Isabel Coixet (“My Life Without Me,” “Elegy”), one of Spain’s most international auteurs, was one of the selected projects.

We are extremely grateful and honored to inform you all that our friend and talented Costume Designer Mercè Paloma, won the award for the Best Costume Design thanks to her work for The Bookshop. Peris Costumes International provided the costumes that were used to bring characters to life during the shooting of the project.

“The Bookshop,” tells the story of a widow (Mortimer) who decides to open a bookstore. The film is set in the quiet English coastal town of Hardborough in the 1950s. In this small town, the main characters has to confront gossip and intimidation from some of her neighbours, but also discovers an unexpected ally.

“The Bookshop” is an adaptation of Penelope Fitzgerald’s novel.
